Juan Acero is a passionate Colombian adventurer with a strong connection to nature and a boundless enthusiasm for exploration.

With a profound love for the outdoors, Juan channels his energy into his favourite pastime of discovering the wonders of the natural world. Whether he is navigating new trails or rafting down rivers, Juan is always accompanied by friends, clients, and even his loyal canine companions.

Having discovered his true calling as an adventure tour guide in 1996, Juan embarked on a transformative journey when Rios Tropicales, a renowned Costa Rican rafting company, offered him the opportunity to train as a rafting guide in his hometown of San Gil, Colombia. This pivotal moment ignited his passion for rafting, leading him to pursue his dream of exploring rivers across the globe.

Over the course of 25 years, Juan has guided rafting and multi-day expeditions in diverse locations such as Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, the USA, and Canada. In 2007, he made the decision to relocate to British Columbia, Canada, to enhance his rafting skills and advance his career. During the summer months, Juan can be found leading rafting tours in Golden, BC, while in the winter, he focuses on fire safety programs in South America, water safety in the film industry, and adventure expeditions worldwide.

A seasoned adventurer, Juan cherishes his experiences, with one of his most cherished memories being a week-long expedition in Patagonia, Chile, in the breathtaking region of Futaleufú. This unforgettable journey encompassed a range of activities including hiking, rafting, horseback riding, ziplining, and more, offering a rich tapestry of cultural encounters and connections with local communities

Inspired by his travels and cultural experiences, Juan founded Colo Adventures to showcase the beauty, culture, and adventure of his native province of Guanentá in Colombia. With his extensive background in tourism and a deep appreciation for Colombian heritage, Juan has curated a once-in-a-lifetime expedition for his friends and clients, inviting them to join him on an unforgettable journey of discovery.
